For inside mounting, ensure that the window frame has a depth of at least 2”, with blackout roller shades featuring a slight light gap on each side. To eliminate this gap, consider opting for an outside mount. When mounting outside, the shade should be 4” - 6” wider than the window frame, with the length extending at least 2” beyond the window length for optimal coverage.
